Have you already had coronavirus? If yes, then you might have an idea about this virus. When the person is exposed to coronavirus, the antibodies develop in the person to help them to deal with the infection. People are still confused regarding these antibodies like they provide immunity or not from catching coronavirus again. Additionally, these antibodies don’t have to develop in every person even after getting coronavirus.
You already know that we can get some viruses again easily like colds and flu because these viruses change with time. But there are still misconceptions regarding coronavirus so it is better to keep following the SOPs after the recovery of this virus. Make sure to follow all the guidelines. According to the research published in JAMA internal medicine, the survivors of covid-19 are less likely to get the coronavirus again but the chance of reinfection is not zero.
The researchers of the JAMA study took the identified data of over 3.2 million patients who had recorded the positive test for the NHS for 378,606 that indicates that they had been infected with the novel coronavirus at some point in their life in the past. The next step of the researcher was to examine the diagnostic test for the virus which would represent the number of people who have coronavirus currently within 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, and longer intervals after antibody testing.
The research showed that 11.3% of the patients who tested positive for antibodies had seen under the bracket of currently corona patients within 30 days. Whereas 2.7% had positive results in 60 days, 1.1% in 90 days, and 0.3% after 90 days. Thus it is proved that the virus can be reinfected.
Do you have to isolate again if you’ve already had Covid-19?
Yes. No matter, you have had coronavirus but still you need to self isolate yourself and go for the diagnostic test to check if you are reinfected or not. There is no particular period that is known for the activated immune system so you are still at the risk of getting coronavirus again.
Common symptoms of coronavirus include a new continuous cough, change or loss in your sense of taste and smell, and high temperature.
Be mindful to isolate yourself in the conditions:
- You are advised to self-isolate by NHS test or being tracked by the NHS covid-19 app
- The people you live with have symptoms of corona
- You see that the symptoms have started in yourself after contacted with someone who had some symptoms
Treatment of Coronavirus
The vaccine is on priority as it has been approved and currently in most of the countries of the world as it helps to reduce the risk of coronavirus
- Get much rest
- Stay hydrated
- Take oral medicines to help with common symptoms like flu and high temperature
- Do not take antibiotics as they are not helpful to treat coronavirus
